How to get here and where to stay.
Hotel
If you’re traveling from out of town, consider staying at the Radisson RTP, which is the closest hotel to the Sigma Xi Center (0.9 mi/1.5 km) and 5.5 mi/8.9 km from RDU Airport. We arranged for a block of rooms at a discounted price. The hotel provides a free shuttle to and from the airport, and will also be running the mile to and from Sigma Xi during the conference.
Make your reservations here and use the promotion code SCI09 to get a room rate of $72 per night. If it doesn’t come back at this rate, contact Abel by e-mail (abelpharmboy@gmail.com) or call Radisson’s Director of Sales, Wendy Jeffries at +1 919 547 3518 or by e-mail to wendy.jeffries@radisson.com
Possibly useful information when booking at the Radisson: Entering the conference promo code returns a screen with three links to rooms at the conference rate. The first and third links offer rooms with 1 king bed. The second link offers rooms with 2 queen beds.

Carpooling and room sharing
Use this page to coordinate carpooling and room-sharing with each other.
- Daniel Brown – I work a mile or two away from Sigma Xi at the National Institute of Environmental Health Science and live in Mebane. I would be happy to help drive folks around or whatever else comes up that you need a local boy for. If someone is desperate and broke, I might be able to provide a free room with a futon (I’d have to run it by the wife and make sure you are not of ill-repute). Update: yes it’s cool – she’ll probably be out of town anyway.
Just a thought – I know I will be needing transportation from airport —> hotel and back again. Given that the hotel shuttle is free, I’m hoping for that :) Is that something we could coordinate? Might be easier if several people are flying in around the same time, etc. -Elissa Hoffman
Bill Hooker – arriving 16.00hrs Friday 16th RDU, staying Radisson RTP. If people arriving around the same time and staying at the same/nearby hotels list their details here, we can co-ordinate transport to hotels.
